JinkoSolar recently won the bid for a 20MWh ESS project at the Guangxi Xiangzhou Baizhang Wind Farm Phase III, managed by Shanghai Electric (Jiangsu) Comprehensive Energy Services Co. The project will benefit from JinkoSolar's advanced SunTera liquid-cooled energy storage system, enhancing power security and supporting the energy transition.
Located in Xiangzhou County, Guangxi, the wind farm has a total installed capacity of 48MW, with the energy storage system supporting 20% of this capacity and offering a continuous 2-hour energy storage duration. This project will alleviate grid pressure, solve the problem of wind power generation intermittency, aid in the effective utilization of wind energy, ensure grid stability and reliability, and improve electric power quality. Winning this project showcases JinkoSolar's brand strength and vertical integration capabilities. According to the requirements of the project, JinkoSolar selected SunTera, a new-generation liquid-cooled energy storage system with a charging/discharging ratio of 0.5C, to effectively empower the development of local clean energy transformation.
JinkoSolar's SunTera liquid-cooled energy storage system is integrated in a 20-foot standard container, boasts high-efficiency liquid cooling, safety features, cost-effectiveness, and intelligent operation and maintenance. The system operates in a temperature range of -20°C to +50°C. Its unique design of nonuniform & refined flow channel can control the real-time temperature difference of cell within 2.5℃. In addition, the design of multiple liquid cooling control modes can reduce system auxiliary power consumption by 20% and increase service life by at least 10%. By utilizing the rack-level management, the RTE can be increased by more than 1%, enabling the system to be equipped with higher discharge capacity. Cluster-level management technology effectively improves the operational consistency of the cells. SunTera also provides five levels of protection from the cell to the system, effectively preventing the spread of thermal runaway. Combined with monitoring and warning, fire suppression, and explosion-proof design, the system provides multi-level, system-wide and reliable protection. Moreover, the system adopts energy management and control combined with digital operation and maintenance mode, which can real-time monitor the operating status of the equipment and accurately identify system failures, and ultimately realize SunTera intelligent energy storage.
Yao Feng, JinkoSolar's Vice President, stated: "Facing the boundless potential of the energy storage market, our company is committed to innovation and driving green advancements. We aim to enhance R&D efforts to offer more efficient, safe, and cost-effective energy storage solutions, contributing to a comprehensive improvement in the PV system solutions and accelerating low-carbon, sustainable socio-economic development."
