JinkoSolar, the global leading PV supplier, recently announced that it will supply a total of 1.75GW of N-type TOPCon modules to two landmark PV projects—AHK2 (500MW) and MAS (1250MW)—developed under Saudi Arabia’s Fifth Round Renewable Energy Program by EDF Renewables and SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development Co., Ltd.. The projects are jointly contracted by PowerChina Guizhou Engineering Corporation.

Following last year’s 1.8GW PV3 Al Ajban project in Abu Dhabi, this is JinkoSolar’s second major collaboration with EDF Renewables. Leveraging its cutting-edge N-type TOPCon technology, Jinko is helping create benchmark projects for PV+desert restoration in the region. This successful signing not only reinforces JinkoSolar’s strong presence in the Middle East and global PV markets but also showcases China’s leadership in climate governance through technological innovation. The project provides a replicable model for energy transition and desertification control in the Middle East and has earned high recognition from the project owners.

The AHK2 project is located southeast of Al Henakiyah town in Medina Province, Saudi Arabia, and the MAS project is situated east of Dharghat town in Ha’il Province. Both sites are typical desertification-prone regions in Saudi Arabia, facing constant challenges such as high temperatures, drought, and sandstorms. As a strategic project under Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” and the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), the AHK2 and MAS have both selected JinkoSolar’s N-type TOPCon Tiger Neo high-efficiency bifacial photovoltaic modules after a rigorous selection process. These modules feature outstanding low degradation rates, low temperature coefficients, high bifaciality, resistance to UV degradation, wind load resistance, hail resistance, dust prevention, and highly reliable designs. These attributes ensure that the projects maintain exceptional performance even under harsh environmental conditions such as high irradiance, high temperatures, significant day-night temperature fluctuations, and sandstorms. Furthermore, multiple empirical studies have shown that the high bifacial rate of up to 85% in the Tiger Neo modules alone can increase the project’s total energy yield by approximately 3.38%, with even greater gains under higher ground reflectivity. Once operational, the project will not only supply clean electricity but also create microclimate benefits by lowering ground temperature and improving soil conditions, laying a foundation for vegetation recovery and desertification control.

JinkoSolar remains committed to technological innovation and quality-first development principles, providing customers with higher quality and more efficient photovoltaic products and services. The company also remains focused on strengthening global partnerships, leveraging its expertise to support energy transition and sustainable development in the Middle East.
