Beijing, China, 23 September 2016 – As the only solar company, Jinkosolar was invited to attend 1st District Energy Expert Meeting jointly organized by UNEP (The United Nations Environment Program) , and IEA(International Energy Agency), with the aim of securing major efficiency gains and helping move towards use of renewable energy. A wide range of stakeholders – including the private sector and finance institutions – were consulted on possible ways of rehabilitating and integrating renewables in the city’s district energy system. Accelerating the uptake of energy efficiency and renewable energy in the global energy mix is the single biggest contribution to keep global temperature rise under 2 degrees Celsius (°C) and to reap the multiple benefits of an inclusive green economy. Cities account for over 70 percent of global energy use and, 40 to 50 percent of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. In several cities, heating and cooling can account for up to half of local energy consumption. Any solution for the climate and energy transition must explicitly address sustainable urban heating and cooling, as well as electricity. One of the least-cost and most efficient solutions in reducing emissions and primary energy demand is the development of modern (climate-resilient and low-carbon) district energy in cities. “We are very happy to represent solar PV industry to attend this workshop and to join the Global Initiative ,” said Ms. Dany Qian, Vice President of JinkoSolar, “The role of cities, among the core components of the transition to a sustainable energy future is the integration of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, and the need to use “renewable thinking” when addressing challenges in the energy, buildings and industry sectors. Among all the renewable energy form, the distributed solar PV system is the only practical, feasible and economic source of energy to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy in urban area." This expert consultation meeting was attended by International Institute for Sustainable Development, Tsinghua University , as well as private sector and financial institutions representatives. JinkSolar, as the world largest solar PV company is actively provide independent advice on integration of solar PV energy with the city public infrastructure to achieve higher shares of renewables and efficiency improvements, as well as on cost and pollution reduction.
